Fashion Film Program

FASHIONCLASH offers a stage during FASHIONCLASH Festival to emerging designers, artists, and film makers who experiment with the genre of fashion film and other related audiovisual and digital media (digital fashion, animation, etc.).

The fashion (short) film is becoming an established medium for designers and brands to explore and present their vision, values and aesthetics. In this multimedia age, fashion film has become a growing and effective format for storytelling, engagement with a wide audience and crossover with other disciplines. Both independent designers and large fashion houses have embraced fashion film as a medium and have moved away from the use of mundane product placement or traditional fashion presentation formats. The rise of fashion film festivals, a variety of online and offline platforms, and technological accessibility is contributing to the development of the genre.

Fashion Film examples, but not limited to:

  • Short film (with fashion as a narrative);

  • Show video presentation or registration;

  • Brand or campaign movie;

  • Conceptual, independent artwork;

  • 3D Animation;

  • Short documentary;

  • Digital / virtual fashion presentation.

The selection for the Fashion Film Program will be screened at Lumière Cinema in Maastricht (exact date(s) and time(s) to be announced) during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2025. Applicants for the Fashion Film Program can submit a previously developed film.  If you are currently developing a fashion film, please get in touch with a member of team FASHIONCLASH via film@fashionclash.nl and provide the following: 

  • Synopsis of the film;

  • Approx. length of the film;

  • A (link to a) portfolio with other previous work or films.

FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Awards

If you are included in the selection of the Fashion Film Program, your film not only will be on showcase during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2025, but there is also a FASHIONCLASH Fashion Film Award to be won! 5 nominees will be selected out of all applications by a jury panel of industry professionals (to be announced in due time). The award includes a €1.000 prize. Additionally, our long-term media partner KALTBLUT Magazine will award their favorite entry with a feature in their magazine. Both winners will be announced during an Award Screening, including the films of all 5 nominees, during FASHIONCLASH Festival (exact date and time to be announced).

Important details

  • Please read the Terms & Conditions and read Privacy Policy carefully before you apply!

  • All applications for the Fashion Film Program must be submitted via FilmFreeway;

  • The Standard participation fee is €40, -. If you submit your film before 1  May 2025, you pay the Early Bird participation fee of €30,-;

  • We offer students an adjusted rate in the Student category. The regular participation fee for this category is €20, -
    If you submit your film before 1 May 2025, you pay the Early Bird participation fee of €15, -;

  • Submitted films should be at least 30 seconds no longer than 15 minutes;

  • If your film includes spoken language other than English, subtitles in English are appreciated, but not required;

Important dates

  • Early Bird deadline for applications: Thursday 1 May 2025;

  • Regular deadline for applications: Tuesday 1 July 2025;

  • Announcement selected films: Week 28 (7– 11 July 2025);

  • Deadline for delivering PR information via FilmFreeway: Monday 1 September 2025;

  • If you are currently developing a film, the final edit of the film should be in our possession no later than Wednesday 1 October 2025;

  • FASHIONCLASH Festival: Friday 14 November, Saturday 15 November, Sunday 16 November 2025.

Technical specifications

  • Resolution: min. 1080p, 2K;

  • Aspect ratio: 16:9, 4:3, 2.35:1, but not limited to. Films are screened on a Widescreen Cinemascope format (2.35:1);

  • Container file: .MP4 or .MOV (no .DCP);

  • Audio: Stereo (2.0) or 5.1 surround sound;

  • File size: max. 5GB. All files must be uploaded via FilmFreeway.

Deadlines

  • Early Bird deadline: Thursday 1 May 2025

  • Regular deadline: Tuesday 1 July 2025
