DOMINIK wants to capture the energy that bounces off their heads and hands while working. When the floor is filled with ‘blanks’ and patches, the never-ending puzzle can begin. They want to literally encapsule a mix of archived and new work that can give just enough, while hiding the clues. DOMINIK’s archive of ‘workmode’ images are put together in a magazine. It shows the spontaneous and forever ongoing way of working and reworking. This magazine is combined with a unique, small accessory item sculpture in a vacuum sealed pack. In this vacuumed airtight package, they want to preserve the new magazine they put out - containing much of their never shared archive - in combination with a smaller, more sculptural piece. DOMINIK likes to think that this works as a new package containing information, energy and even smell, and as a visual trigger that makes people want to dig in and find out more in real life at De Meldkamer, where they will be present and show their new pieces and leftovers –where they’ll be giving both new lives all at once, all while trying out new stuff like an octopus.

While headrolling into the studio, patches fly around like the Tazmanian Devil (when DOMINIK thrives more than ever). Hot-glue-gun patches and stitched stickers on caps, let’s go! It’s time to vacuum seal some caps and socks! Dominik is a clothing collective of three artists: Don Possen (DO), Mike Moonen (MI), Nika Schmitt (NIK). Together they recombine pre-owned clothes and styles in a transformer way with no hierarchies. Each with their own method of approach, they unite powers to create unique, wearable and non-wearable fashion pieces. Working together like how musicians jam, mixing and matching in high speed and pushing for unexpected logic. By doing so, they connect their individual practices and keep hovering in between clothing and sculpture, concept and material, stupidity and genius, quality and value, pride and shame.
