Dictator of Art (D.O.A)

MUSES

‘Dictator of Art: MUSES’ is a fashion performance collection that redefines the essence of fashion. This collection celebrates the transformative power of fashion as a medium for self-expression and identity. It explores how clothing goes beyond functionality, allowing us to embrace our unique alter egos and personal fantasies. The collection shines a light on both the positive achievements and challenges within the fashion world, aiming to inspire and reconnect fashion with the people. Experience how your relationship with fashion, like spirituality, is deeply personal, for everyone deserves to be the MUSE of their own life.

Yorvique Macaay, known as “Dictator of Art,” is a multidisciplinary artist from Willemstad, Curaçao. Currently a graduate student at the Maastricht Institute of Performative Arts, his work explores the boundaries between freedom and power, showing how these elements are interconnected. The eye, a reoccurring symbol in his art, reflects his meticulous approach. His multicultural upbringing, where various languages, values, and traditions were central, enriches his work. For the past three years, Yorvique has been delving into the world of fashion, focusing on handwork and researching the relationship people have with clothing.
