Carry Somers

Sustainable Fashion Talk

Forza Fashion House hosted a Sustainable Fashion Talk during the award ceremony of the Fashion Makes Sense Award on Thursday 12 October. The Talk, moderated by Elise Crutzen (fashion editor and writer) featured presentations by Jasmien Wynants (Flanders DC/ Close the Loop) and Carry Somers (founder of Fashion Revolution).

Carry Somers shared the story behind Fashion Revolution, the world’s largest fashion activism movement. Jasmien Wynants introduced the visitors to Close the Loop, aiming to familiarize entrepreneurs with the basics of the circular working method. The platform wants to encourage the industry to move away from a linear system (take-make-waste) and to embrace the circular model.

Both Carry Somers and Jasmien Wynants where part of the jury of the Fashion Makes Sense Award, next to Desiree Kleinen (Ree projects) and fashion designer Elsien Gringhuis.

MUKASHI MUKASHI by Birutė Mažeikaitė won the Fashion Makes Sense Award jury prize. The Berlin based designer is awarded with a cash prize of €2.500,- to develop a new sustainable collection that will be presented during FASHIONCLASH Festival 2018. The audience award of €500, (result of the most online and offline votes), went to Maastricht based knitwear label STRIKKS.

Fashion Makes Sense Award is a project by FASHIONCLASH, made possible thanks to support of Province of Limburg.
