De Meldkamer

  • Mira Verhoeve and Dirk Vaessen come together in their love for a playful approach of simple shapes and accessible materials, centering the vulnerable human body in their designs and performances. ‘Building a House or Digging a Hole’ can be described as an interdisciplinary, physical and disorienting presentation on the border of design and performance. How does the body experience a space? And can one influence the other? Inspired by mazes and the strong yet fragile nature of paper, Dirk and Mira present their research in which they ask questions on the search for identity and the manufacturability of a utopia.

Orlando is a research project based on Virgina Woolf's novel Orlando by second-year students from the theater director course at Toneelacademie Maastricht (Institute of Performative Arts). They have been challenged to relate to themes such as gender, imagination, transformation, biography and identity by asking themselves the following questions: What would Orlando do in today's society? What commitment would the figure make and in what context? In other, simpler words, what if the book had been a chapter longer and you were the writer.

This performance is a joint presentation of short individual performances that are theatrical translations of the new 'chapter' for Orlando.

  • WEEF.collective is formed by the artistic duo Lieve Fikkers & Hélène Vrijdag. They create durational weaving performances and textile installations inspired by mythology, ecofeminism and rave sets. Their practice is a celebration of transdisciplinary art, bundling their different expertise. In ‘Atelier of Transcience’ WEEF.collective and Roumans come together to explore new dimensions of transience and decay of fashion and textile. By blurring the lines between slow and fast fashion, they seek to redefine what it means to create, consume, and ultimately let go. Sophie Roumans’ garments seamlessly merge precise tailoring with conceptual design. Beyond mere aesthetics, they serve as a commentary on society, providing a critical perspective while featuring sustainable, locally crafted pieces that navigate the delicate equilibrium between art and fashion.
